Big D Turn's 5...

The days of "Thomas the Train", "Elmo", "Bubble Guppies" and even "Winnie The Pooh" are now just a treasured memory of our past.

Thus, he spends most of his days playing rough, wrestling, and shooting an occasional Nerf Bullet at an unsuspecting victim; Then hops on the Gator and goes for a spin. Cause that is what all 5 year old's do, he tells me.

He tells me "5 year old's can have a T.V. in their room", "but don't even think about taking those training wheels off my bike"

D tells me "5 year old's don't need nap time anymore", "but to please hand him his soft fluffy deer to lay his head on."

He tells me "5 year old's can have sleepovers with their friends," then all 60lbs of him crawls on my lap and wants to cuddle

He tells me "5 year olds shouldn't have to eat their fruits and vegetables," then he devours a whole bowl of hummus.

He tells me "5 year old's shouldn't have to get their picture taken," I say SMILE:)

He says "5 year old's should be able to use knives and cut their food," then notices the potentially harmful blade decides otherwise.

He tells me "5 year old's have friends that are girls" then, chases after that pretty little girl in the blue.

D tells me "5 year old's can work in the shop unsupervised", then comes back with some bumps and bruises.

I *heart* my 5 year old

Did I Miss Halloween?

My absence is due primarily to alittle thing I call, Northern Vacation. Baby D and I headed up north Halloween day and thus have just returned to the home front.

Is it really Thanksgiving next week?

I should have started my Christmas shopping like yesterday. Darn my procrastinating tendencies.

While We Were Away Dexter.......

Our 39 pounder is now 3 years old. Yikes...We celebrated by having his first "friend" and family combined party. Yet, the occassion wouldn't be complete without a "Corey Combine" Birthday cake.

So at 9:00 am we got the party started (hence, it was already 87 degrees outside, this summer was unfathomably hot!), the kids took to the bouncy house, like I take to a Zulily sale; no holds bar baby!

Good times were had by all!

Now, I want you to be aware of a little known fact in the Midwest. It is common place for gentlemen to carry around a certain tool that, in case of a dyer emergency may be used at any second. As you can see, BDW (Big Daddy Wayne) is reaching towards his hip to possibly retrieve it. Look very closely; And no, it is an assault riffle of any kind; And yes, I am sure my father-in-law is going to love the fact that you will now be forced into looking at his caboose.

And once again, I placed Dexter into the confined tractor wheel. Ahhh, such a big boy.

But the shindig didn't stop there. Oh, no! His friends at school need to get there sugar high elevated as well.

I can't help but giggle every time, I watch kiddo's overindulge themselves with cake.

They have absolutely no concept, that their cute little faces are covered in icing. It's as though, they zone out the fact of "feeling" on their face entirely. And simply focus on the task at hand. Cracks me up observing them.

I'm Baaaaack....!!!!!

Has it really been June since the last time we have conducted any form of communication?

I only have one but excuse for my repeated absence..

Oops?

Last week we attended a parade in our local area. The kiddo's were thrilled, and Dexter had a fine time entertaining.

We were all there to show our support (and indudge in a sugar fixation) for the Guest Artist at this years Quilt Show. Who we just so happen to call Grandma.

The look of sheer bliss when granddaughter sees grandmother, perched high upon the moving pedestal.

Take A Gander At My Two Year Old's Pictures.....

Baby D recently had his 2 year old pictures taken by the fabulous Kathy McCloy! She, as usual, did an an outstanding job! Mrs. McCloy has always been very cordial and extremely easy to work with. And it seems as though, each of her pictures really do tell a story. The use of vibrant colors is exquisite and "Your Moment" is truly captured in time. She is a traveling photographer, whom I believe will visit just about anywhere to capture your shot. What better Christmas gift you could genuinely give a person, then that of a collaboration of photos. Just Say'n...!

Check her out at Kathy McCloy Photography!

Our Roaming Gnome....

Well, I am finally back in action my friends! Baby D have been "roaming" around the northwoods for the past few weeks and I have now settled back into reality, just in time for Halloween. This year I decided to dress my little munchkin up as a Gnome (minus the beard, he wouldn't have any part of that) to go Trick or Treating.

So bright and early this morning we loaded for his first annual "Trunk or Treat". I just adore seeing all of kiddo's parade around in their costumes.

Evening the adults got in on the fun. But no matter how spooky they dressed, the kiddo's knew they had candy and would not hesitate to approach them.

There was even a little Indian boy with his trusty canine.

This beginning our first "Trunk or Treat", I was an awe at the embellished trunks that were fashionably set up.

But we couldn't go without having a photo of all of the cuties all dressed up. I can't wait to bust this picture out in a few years.

Happy Halloween,

Dear Unsuspecting Victims....

Children are like sponges at this age! Since turning two, Baby D has really began to let his personality shine through. So much so that I took it upon myself to mischievously teach him a thing or two about how to appropriately act while he is in the presence of adults. The following clip is a reenactment of such behavior.

But first let me set the scene.

The innocence that a child portrays is valued greatly among the elders (elders = anyone over 5 years of age). Baby D however has latched onto this naive concept and has now decided to use this to his advantage whenever he is caught in an "Ice Breaking Situation". He begins by carefully surveying his surroundings for an individual that he sees fit to advance. Then he will causally mosey toward their direction, making just enough eye contact to were the elder notices that this darling little lad must want something from them. Then Baby D will stand directly infront of elder, nonchalantly bat his baby blues, and ever so sweetly whisper "Secret". The elder ecstatic about the thought of a young toddler wanting to embrace them will graciously bend down and echo those 8 little words that Baby D eagerly is awaiting to hear "Do you want to tell me a secret?" Baby D leans in carefully and.....................play the video...

Baby D's First Horse Show.....

Our teeny tiny little baby rode in his very first Horse Show last weekend!

He came fully equipped with a cowboy hat, buckle, boots, button down shirt and of coarse chaps.

He even drew some spectators.

HH was encouraging Baby D to get into his mental "Zone", before the performance begins.

Right out of the gate, he does exactly what he is told, grin from ear to ear.

One lap later, this is the facial expression he decides to bear.

Yet overall it was a victory! Even with his limited attention span, he made it 2 laps around the arena and did not want to bale until it was time for the Q & A portion of the competition.

Our wittle tot won 2nd place that day.

That makes this farm wife a very happy! Can't wait to do it all again next year.

Sincerely,
Farming Fabulously
